The art of Rachel Hoffman-Bayles can best be described as "whimsical," derived from the friendly playground of her imagination. Her love of character and story-telling is evident in her work, garnished with a dash of humor, a touch of sentiment, and a foundation of spirituality. From a very early age, Rachel decided on a career as an artist. Her journey put her in contact with many wonderful teachers and mentors, and eventually brought her to Brigham Young University where she earned a BFA in Design-Illustration.
Rachel draws a great deal of inspiration from her large and boisterous family: she is mother to five "wild and crazy" children, and wife to Dallyn Vail Bayles, a professional singer, actor and recording artist. Their life together is certainly anything but dull, and often downright exciting! Dallyn's work has taken the family back and forth across the country multiple times, including more than a year spent on tour. Aside from art, Rachel enjoys a wide variety of activities, including cooking, knitting, quilting, gardening, singing, acting, and speaking. On occasion Rachel has shared the stage, screen, and recording microphone with her husband, and also performed, sung and spoken at various events across the country. She felt highly privileged to speak at BYU Women's Conference in 2013 and have her talk included in the published collection from that year. In 2017, Rachel launched the web comic "Sassy Pants," inspired by the antics of her youngest daughter and her experiences with motherhood in general. In all of her creative outlets, Rachel's biggest hope is to bring a smile and a touch of whimsy to people's lives. As much as Rachel loves to create art, the center of her world is her faith and her family.
Rachel and her family currently reside in Utah.
